AFL-CIO Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Observance

January 15 - 19, 2009

The 2009 AFL-CIO Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Observance was held in New Orleans, Louisiana.  This year's Observance came at a signi-ficant time in our history, shortly after America elected its first African American President and immediately before he was sworn in  -- making it a great year to celebrate the life, work and dreams of Dr. King.

ASASP Leaders - Doris Reed, Dwayne Jones and David Pickens - joined in two days of community service projects because our brothers and sisters in New Orleans still need help rebuilding their communities.  As you can see here, New Orleans' Mayor Ray Nagin worked with them to make the Observance a big success.
